The 1970s didn't get much funkier than THE PERSUADERS! This short-lived action/adventure series starred Roger Moore (just before he became James Bond) and Tony Curtis (just before his career hit the skids) as two dapper, selfish millionaires who solve murders, stop conspiracies and seduce every human being in Europe.

It was a huge globetrotting adventure starring two of the sexiest stars in movie and television history, but was THE PERSUADERS! really... CANCELED TOO SOON? Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold take you back to the Swingin' Seventies and try to figure out why THE PERSUADERS! still has a cult following, what the show did wrong, and how mad times Roger Moore and Tony Curtis could possibly stumble across dead bodies in the woods (hint: it's a LOT).

Sammy Davis Jr. plays a demon trying to buy Jack Klugman's soul in POOR DEVIL, a TV comedy in the tradition of BEWITCHED and I DREAM OF JEANNIE with a hellish little twist. Christopher Lee plays Lucifer and Adam West plays Klugman's despicable boss, but despite that phenomenal cast the pilot for POOR DEVIL wasn't picked up for series.

It's a devilishly fun idea, but was POOR DEVIL really... CANCELED TOO SOON? Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold take a deep dive into hell itself to figure out how this TV curio came about, what makes it work, what made it fail, and why it's got one of the funkiest theme songs we've ever reviewed!

You've never seen a show like STEEL JUSTICE. It's a live-action prime time TV pilot about an ancient immortal who searches for people who can transform stuff into bigger stuff, and who tracks down a cop whose dead son has possessed a robot dinosaur. Now, that cop needs to transform his dead robot dinosaur son into a giant robot dinosaur who breathes fire and kills bad guys.

STEEL JUSTICE might very well be the weirdest, dumbest television series we have ever reviewed. But was it... CANCELED TOO SOON? William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold are on the case, outlining every single baffling element of this failed television pilot, and trying to figure out how the hell anyone thought it could ever work as a television series.

Links don't get much freakier than they do in FREAKYLINKS, a short-lived horror series about Gen X journalists who investigate ghosts, monsters and dinosaurs for their super-cool, super-edgy website, starring Ethan Embry (CAN'T HARDLY WAIT) and from the creators of THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, DARK CITY and BATMAN BEGINS.

It was a concept that was practically designed to only last for one season at the turn of the century, but is it possible that FREAKYLINKS was... CANCELED TOO SOON? Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold are on the case, walking you through every episode of the cult favorite show and fantasizing about a world in which internet writers actually make money.

He's a wizard. He's a private detective. He's kind of a schmoe. He's Harry Dresden, and he's the protagonist of THE DRESDEN FILES, a popular series of novels by Jim Butcher and a short-lived television series on The Sci-Fi Channel starring Paul Blackthorne (an actor whose real name is arguably even cooler than "Harry Dresden").

THE DRESDEN FILES has werewolves, vampires, ghosts, dragons, bird people, and just about everything else you can think of, except actual files. But was it... CANCELED TOO SOON? Join film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold as they take a look at the cult favorite TV series, from the perspective of people who haven't read the books. (And yes, they accidentally got the year the show came out wrong on the podcast. They're sorry.)

In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: The police, who investigate crime, and the district attorneys, who prosecute the offenders. It's a system that works great in New York City, where every other American LAW & ORDER series takes place, but in LAW & ORDER: LOS ANGELES it fell apart after just one season.

It's one of the biggest failures in a long-running, super popular television franchise, but was LAW & ORDER: LOS ANGELES... CANCELED TOO SOON? Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold are on the case, running down leads on why the LAW & ORDER formula works, why it's unintentionally hilarious, and every detail about Los Angeles that the showrunners got catastrophically wrong.

From the creators of TALES FROM THE CRYPT: DEMON KNIGHT comes a supernatural action/adventure TV series about a dead cop who teams up with the Devil to catch escapees from Hell. Peter Horton (THIRTYSOMETHING) and John Glover (SMALLVILLE) star in the BRIMSTONE, a series with a pretty big cult following considering it only lasted for half a season in the late 1990s.

But was BRIMSTONE really... CANCELED TOO SOON? Critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold review the hell out of this hellish TV series to find out what went right, what went wrong, and what might have happened if the series had continued.

They're good. They're Christian. They are allegedly bitches. So it mades perfect sense to call this short-lived comedy series from SEX AND THE CITY producer Darren Starr, STEEL MAGNOLIAS writer Robert Harling, and author Kim Gatlin... GOOD CHRISTIAN BITCHES. (And then there was an uproar so they called it "GCB" instead.)

With Leslie Bibb, Kristen Chenoweth, Annie Potts, Miriam Shor, GCB had one of the best ensemble casts of any tv show in years. But was it really... CANCELED TOO SOON? Critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold cross themselves and take a trek through every episode of the series, and talk about what worked, what failed, and which of the cast members are indisputable international treasures.

Heath Ledger and Vera Farmiga got their big breaks in ROAR, a sexy teen riff on BRAVEHEART and HERCULES, about a gang of hot young Celts who do battle with an immortal Roman to save Ireland from oppression. Along the way they rescue banshees, kiss fire maidens, rescue Jesus Christ's personal correspondence and throw spears into heaven... for reasons.

ROAR failed to take off on the Fox Network, but was it possibly... CANCELED TOO SOON? Join film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold as they solve the mystery, walk you through every weird episode of ROAR, and wonder what possible reason the hair department and makeup department could possibly have had to do what they did to Vera Farmiga's bangs.

Most people know that Sanda Bullock and Nicole Kidman co-starred in PRACTICAL MAGIC, a very surreal supernatural comedy about a family of witches who run afoul of deadly curses, ghostly ex-boyfriends and multiple generations of prejudice.

What most people DON'T know is that PRACTICAL MAGIC spawned a failed tv pilot in 2004 called SUDBURY, starring Jeri Ryan from STAR TREK: VOYAGER, Kim Delaney from NYPD BLUE, and Kat Dennings from TWO BROKE GIRLS.

The PRACTICAL MAGIC television series never actually aired, but still we ask... was it CANCELED TOO SOON? Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold track down this obscure chapter in tv history to figure out what the film did better than the show, what the show did better than the film, and just how weird PRACTICAL MAGIC was in the first place.

FISHING WITH JOHN was one of the weirdest talk shows, fishing shows, reality tv shows or shows of any other kind. The series followed composer John Lurie as he invited celebrity guests Jim Jarmusch, Tom Waits, Matt Dillon, Willem Dafoe and Dennis Hopper to exotic locales, where they went fishing. Badly.

That's it. That's the whole series. FISHING WITH JOHN was either a merciless satire of television, a serious meditation on the smaller moments in life, or the mellow predecessor of manic Adult Swim absurdism (or all three).

But was it... CANCELED TOO SOON? Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold analyze a series that practically refuses to be analyzed in the latest episode of the podcast.

The late, great David Cassidy was a tv star, a pop star, a teen heartthrob and - for one short season - a hard-boiled undercover cop infiltrating drug dealers, gun runners, baby smugglers and high-octane grocery store thieves. You know, like you do.

But let's be honest here... was the pop culture curio DAVID CASSIDY: MAN UNDERCOVER canceled too soon? Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold delve into every episode and discover that this seemingly absurd TV series was 21 JUMP STREET a decade before 21 JUMP STREET, and POINT BREAK a decade-and-a-half before POINT BREAK, and THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS over two decades before THE FAST AND FURIOUS.

Yes, really.

Our very special JUSTICE MONTH OF JUSTICE concludes with a superhero series that pretty much everybody forgot about: HUMAN TARGET, starring rock legend Rick Springfield as a man who can impersonate anybody, and who uses that technology to impersonate the people he saves and get creepy kicks out of living their private lives.

Rick Springfield wishes he had Jessie's Girl, but does he wish that HUMAN TARGET wasn't... CANCELED TOO SOON? Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold dive into the original TV adaptation of HUMAN TARGET to find out what works, what needed work, and why this just might be one of the worst ideas for a superhero show ever.

There have been a lot of tv shows based on DC superheroes, but there's never been one quite like AMETHYST - PRINCESS OF GEM WORLD! This short animated series about a teenager dragged into the world of her video game satirized RPG's, anime and the fantasy genre, all while telling the story of a good, old-fashioned heroes journey.

But was the Cartoon Network/DC Nation series AMETHYST - PRINCESS OF GEM WORLD... canceled too soon?! We've got producer/director Brianne Drouhard in the studio to tell us how the show came to be, what the should would have become, and tons of stories about the production. Join Brianne Drouhard and your hosts William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold as our JUSTICE MONTH OF JUSTICE continues!

SMALLVILLE was the only live-action DC superhero show in town for many years, but did you know it almost had a sister series about the adventures of AQUAMAN? From producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar came MERCY REEF, a superhero show that's basically FLIPPER but if the dolphin and the human were the same guy.

MERCY REEF (aka AQUAMAN) never made it past this legendary pilot episode, but was it really... CANCELED TOO SOON? This week, GEEK HISTORY LESSON podcast co-hosts Ashley V. Robinson and Jason Inman join your usual hosts William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold to fish this pilot out of the murk, dissect it, and find out just how close we came to getting a good Aquaman tv series as our JUSTICE MONTH OF JUSTICE continues!

Before there was JUSTICE LEAGUE, before there was THE FLASH, there was... THE FLASH, an expensive and ambitious live-action superhero series that emerged from the wake of Tim Burton's BATMAN, and bridged the gap between the retro comic book adaptations of yore and a new generation of faithful tv shows and movies.

It's got a huge cult following that continues to this day, but was THE FLASH really... CANCELED TOO SOON? Welcome... to the JUSTICE MONTH OF JUSTICE! All this month on CANCELED TOO SOON we're reviewing failed DC superhero tv shows, and we're starting off with one of the most notorious pilots in tv history, the live-action JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA from 1997, about a gang of jokester superheroes with cheap costumes and cheaper visual effects.

But could the JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA tv pilot actually be better than the JUSTICE LEAGUE live-action movie? Probably not, but let's at least see if it was CANCELED TOO SOON! Join film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold as they break down the whole episode, moment by moment, and reveal why it failed, and why - maybe - it's not as bad as you've heard.

The year was 1996, and MELROSE PLACE and BEVERLY HILLS 90210 ruled the world. But for some reason the world wasn't interested in vampires yet. So it was that KINDRED: THE EMBRACED, Aaron Spelling's ambitious/convoluted adaptation of the supernatural role-playing game VAMPIRE: THE MASQUERADE, debuted on Fox, lasted one month, and disappeared forever.

Or did it? Fans of KINDRED: THE EMBRACED have kept this soap opera alive for decades, and now the time has come to find out, once and for all, if it was... CANCELED TOO SOON! Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold are here to walk you through every good idea, every bad idea, every monstrous cliché and every weird "before they were famous" cameo that KINDRED: THE EMBRACED has to offer, as our Monstober comes to a close!!

Monstober continues! Remember when Dracula changed his name to "Big D" and recruited a teenaged vampire, werewolf and Frankenstein monster to become crappy superheroes and fight the villainous Dr. Dred and his dopey henchpersons in O.G.R.E. (The Organization of Generally Rotten Enterprises)? You don't? Well, lucky you.

Throw your nostalgia away, because this week on CANCELED TOO SOON we're going to explain way the 1980s basically sucked, and how much of the blame lands squarely on the shoulders of Hanna-Barbera. William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold walk you through every colossally stupid episode and, finally, ask the only question that matters: Was DRAK PACK canceled too soon?

So get this: a college student installs a computer in a wax museum and the electric vibrations bring Dracula, Frankenstein and The Wolf Man back to life. Together they fight campy supervillains who would have been rejected from the 1960s BATMAN tv series in MONSTER SQUAD, a live-action Saturday morning superhero series that has nothing whatsoever to do with the cult classic movie THE MONSTER SQUAD, even though it sounds like it probably does.

Was MONSTER SQUAD... canceled too soon? Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold put every episode of this bizarre pop culture curio on the slab and dissect it, describing every bizarre (and sometimes offensive) supervillain and having an extended debate on the differences between "monsters" and "ghoulies" as our HALLOWEEN MONSTOBER continues!

Alfred Hitchcock's PSYCHO is one of the most important motion pictures in history, changing the cinematic and horror landscapes and giving birth to sequels, a remake, a hit TV series and - when nobody was looking - the failed 1987 TV pilot BATES MOTEL starring Bud Cord (HAROLD & MAUDE) and Lori Petty (TANK GIRL), in which Norman Bates' best friend inherits the Bates Motel and finds out that it's haunted by kindly ghosts.

Yup, it's a PSYCHO tv series without Norman Bates in it. And with ghosts. BATES MOTEL only lasted one episode, but was it really... CANCELED TOO SOON? Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold talk you through this bizarre and forgotten piece of TV history, as our Halloween Horror Month begins!

One of the most acclaimed new shows of the 2016/2017 season was SWEET/VICIOUS, an MTV series about two college students who become vigilantes to avenge the victims of sex crimes on their campus. SWEET/VICIOUS tackled serious issues with sensitivity, humor and exciting action, and even though it's one of the most topical shows in years, nobody watched it.

Was SWEET/VICIOUS... canceled too soon? Collider staff writer Christina Radish joins hosts William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold to walk you through every episode of the series, highlight what worked, and point out a few missteps the series may have made as early as episode one, and discuss what would have happened on SWEET/VICIOUS if it had lasted as long as the creator intended.

You loved her when she was AGENT CARTER, but Hayley Atwell's got an even tougher job in the crime-solving procedural series CONVICTION. The former superspy now plays the daughter of an ex-president, who gets arrested for cocaine possession, and punished by being put in charge of the Conviction Integrity Unit, which looks into old cases and tries to determine, once and for all, if justice had really been served.

CONVICTION only lasted thirteen episodes last season, but was it really... canceled too soon? Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold pick this fan favorite series apart, episode by episode, much in the same way Hayley Atwell does with old murder cases. What worked? What sucked? And was Hayley Atwell the show's saving grace, or was she woefully miscast?

Everyone loves THE WIZARD OF OZ, so of course they made it "badass". From the minds behind shows that were canceled after only one season like SIBERIA, DRACULA and AMERICAN GOTHIC came the sure-fire hit EMERALD CITY, a grim 'n' gritty reboot of L. Frank Baum's fantasy classic, which is now about death and racism and climate change and skinless dudes and warriors wearing cat hats and crucified amnesiacs and witches who nunneries and brothels.

And yet somehow this sure-fire smash from the director of THE IMMORTALS and MIRROR MIRROR was canceled after only one season. But was EMERALD CITY... canceled too soon?

Rachel Cushing from the MOVIE TRIVIA SCHMOEDOWN is here to help William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold review this ambitious but strange television event that failed to ignite the imagination of a generation, but might have been kinda neat. Maybe.
